How do I fight the temptations of soda & hamburger if my goal is to become a vegetarian?

I want to eat less meats %26amp; soda but find it very hard as a husband with a wife %26amp; four kids who beg for soda at times.

How can I influence my kids to eat better? At lease less soda %26amp; less meats %26amp; maybe more healthier foods.

Is are minds too addicted for soda %26amp; a hamburgers that it maybe impossible to give up?

Well if you are planning on cutting out meat then you should be able to resist your temptations to have it. Your cutting it out for a reason so try stick to that and substitute meat for other things like Tofu and the fake meat products like Quorn.

As for sodas, replace them with Orange Juice or Apple juice or diluted drinks.
If you're serious about them, you fight temptations by looking at what is going to make you feel good in the long term as you face them.

It is hard with a wife and kids like that. I didn't go veggie til I divorced my ex-wife and could cook what I wanted. There's no way you can influence your kids if your wife isn't on board, unless you do at least half the cooking and she isn't mocking your choice of foods.

Otherwise, it's just a matter of not buying the soda if you want to have fewer sugars, or buying diet soda, and of cooking veggie burgers instead of beef burgers. How do I fight the temptations of soda %26amp; hamburger if my goal is to become a vegetarian?
Tofu is good when you start out because it has a good texture to chew if stir-fried or in tofu burger form. It is high in protein and can be made very tasty with the right sauce or vegetables. Fight the desire by finding new foods that you look forward to. Think of the amount of harmful stuff in the meat that large companies sell. They don't care if we die or not. As for soda, I have replaced it with sparkling water. I feel like carbonated drinks help the big meals digest well. If you want some flavor in the sparkling water, keep a few limes or lemons around and drop some in for a refreshing drink. There are alot of flavored seltzers around nowadays. There are also lots of natural sodas out there. Blue Sky and Hansen's make soda. You can also make Italian Sodas by using regualr carbonated soda water and put some natural flavoring syrup in it. Or you could put orange juice or other juices in your carbonated water. Alot of vegans do that. There is a site called I Can't Believe It's Vegan. That has lots of common stuff that passes the vegan test.
You can't just get rid of old habits without replacing them with something. My advice would be to experiment with vegetarian recipes and find new yummy things for you and your family to eat, so you won't miss the old soda and hamburgers so much.

I like this cookbook, and it's supposed to be geared towards finding decently healthy vegetarian things to feed your kids. http://www.amazon.com/Better-Than-Peanut鈥?/a>How do I fight the temptations of soda %26amp; hamburger if my goal is to become a vegetarian?
Well i would just eat a bit more veggies and fruits as meats and dairy products keep us healthy and strong. It's hard to change just like that and i do not think you should make your whole family change to vegetables only on a diet as they already know of the good burgers and drinks so just eat less sweets and it will be all good, and the kids won,t end up resenting you for forcing them to eat all and only vegetarian..
You buy the food right? You're pretty much in charge of what they eat, no matter how much they piss and moan about it. XD

Kids are the most stubborn I think to try new things. If anything, I would just shorten the supply of soda, little by little until you have eliminated it. Maybe the kids won't miss it. LoL Maybe not. But good luck.
You lead by setting an example for them. Becoming a vegetarian is a personal decision and shouldn't be forced on other family members.

We are omnivorous, which means we eat animals and vegetables. Our front teeth (incisors) are shaped to tear off meat to chew. The back teeth (molars) are designed to grind vegetables.

Vegetarians are so pious and dull, why deny yourself the pleasure of eating meat?
You don't necessarily have to deny yourself soda... but watch a video of how cows are slaughtered and it's likely you won't be as tempted. If that doesn't work, try out types of veggie burgers, there are some damn good ones out there. And... I have no idea.
I gave my kids carbonated grape juice, and carbonated apple juice telling them it was grape soda, and apple soda. These items are sold at grocery store. Problem 1 is now solved

Problem 2 soy hamburgers are pretty good, or try turkey burgers.
You fight temptations by studying the Good Book.
call your susport group and tell them that your in conflict in wanting a burger and soda .
