How to get protein after workouts for a new vegetarian?

I recently decided to stop eating meats, as well as cheese and milk. I work out five to six times a week and it's important for me to get protein. I do not drink protein shakes because I would rather enjoy having real muscles than a watered down shake body. Thank you to anyone that can help me.How to get protein after workouts for a new vegetarian?
eat tofu i am vegan myself and it works 4 me cuz i am pretty buff.
You just can't do it, son. I'm in my mid-70's and couldn't believe when I went from a big meat eater to a flexitarian diet and moderate meat consumption matched to my power lifting and cardio routine how fast I started to build muscle mass and definition. I'm 6'2", 210#, 49" chest %26amp; 34 waist, 17" biceps and 18" neck. You don't get that from cutting out meat and dairy. Better rethink that, seriously. With your workout routine ... (seems a bit excessive depending on what you do) and your diet, you might cause yourself some problems. How to get protein after workouts for a new vegetarian?
You can get all soy protein drinks...I can't imagine what liquid hell might taste like but it might be close to an all soy drink.
ALL nuts -- contain a lot of protein.....sunflower seeds are great to snack on.....peanuts, etc....alll nuts,.How to get protein after workouts for a new vegetarian?
try taking vitamins with protein in it
Umm great not made from animals... tofu.. an you can even go into like the natural section and get like boca burgers. Even if you take protein suplements tablets or shakes they arent going to be bad. Try the protein bars also.
The amount of protein required for an athlete is somewhat controversial. Good vegan sources of protein include soy products, beans, nuts and nut flours. In combination with the grains eaten on a vegan diet, essential amino acid requirements will be satisfied.
nuts can give you as much protein as a steak.
beans, lentils
Here's a recent quote from the mid-70's faux flexer. I think it explains clearly how he addresses his own lack of protein intake:

"Yep, a function of what the guy eats. I mean I can dump a big load, eat a couple of oranges and in 20 minutes my next big load is as sweet smelling as a boquet of roses."

Protien shakes are great supplements, even for meat eaters! I try to drink one every day.
cosidering the fact that i am traing to enter the metrx world strongman competition in 2011 i thought i would share my knowlegde. proteins are a highly complex molcules comprised of linked amnio acids, good sources of protein would be nuts and seeds, pulses, soya products tufu soy milk and textured soya protein such as soya mince as well as cereals wheats oats and rice free range eggs and some dairy products but considering that you have decided to neglect dairy your options are minimal though i will give you a good list chick peas 7 oz 16 gs baked beans 8 oz 11.5g tofu 10.3 lentils 9.1 muesli half pint 8.2 g peanuts 7.3 gs bread 2 slice 7.0 patatoes broccoli and brown rice have about 4 gs

hope this is a good enough list look out for me in wsm 2011

oh yeah
beans (soy, garbanza, black, kidney, etc..), protien bars. i would say protein powder but it's dairy..
There are plenty of soy products (besides shakes--tho I don't see anything wrong with them), as well as eggs, and nuts. But should you be doing your protein before your workouts?
you can take protein vitamins. eat foods with protein. meat--%26gt;no fat
Wow this is sort;ve tough.

Try protein BARS?

because some'dem have like, 20g of Protein in 1 bar.

and it's a solid food too.

But I suggest you DON'T eliminate meats from your diet,or at least reconsider, because your body won't get the nutrients it need it gets from Meat. (Zinc, natural Protein, etc.)
try soy, nut, and bean products. i prefer mixing soymilk with a banana and almond butter and blend them. it's a perfect drink. but if you want a post-workout snack, try a trail mix (dried fruits, nuts, and grains). health food stores like Whole Foods Market also have wheat-gluten products and vegetable protein that you can use as vegetarian source for protein. i also like soy yogurt or rice yogurt. Mix yogurt with some celeral and you'll have a taste post-work out snack.
