I want to be vegetarian and start eating healthy, but it is difficult because my family always cooks meat for dinner and always goes by fast food places. I feel sick just looking at the food sometimes. Can anyone give me some advice and share some of their simply vegetarian recipes that I can eat during morning time on my rush to get ready for school? Lunch and Dinner ideas would be great too.How can I be a teen vegetarian?
I have a friend that is a teen vegetarian- her family eats meat, too. One thing her parents do for her is when they have meat, they will make a separate dish for her that is vegetarian. Because they respect her being a vegetarian, they even eat non-meat meals some days. You could ask your parents to do that for you, too. I recommend a vegetarian cookbook called "Moosewood Restaurant: Low-Fat Favorites"- not only are they low fat, but vegetarian as well. There are also SO MANY vegetarian pastas out there. Pasta with olives, red sauce, and basil is always nice. You can also find many vegetarian recipes online. Cereal in the morning is always nice, and instant oatmeal- a great source of iron in replace of steak and meat. I could go on forever naming many vegetarian recipes... so I'll leave it to you to find some you may like!
Ask your family to stock veggies, salad fixings, etc. When they are preparing the meaty meal, you can be preparing your own meal, healthy vegetarian stuff.
When they go to fast food, ask them to get you a salad. Most fast food restauraunts have salads, even though they aren't up to par with a really good home-made salad, it will be better than eating greasy fried meat patties. How can I be a teen vegetarian?
You can eat healthy without being vegetarian. That's what I recommend.
Most breakfast food does not have meat. You can eat yogurt, bread, waffles, cereal + milk, fruit, granola bar. Unless you are going to be vegan, you can eat most breakfast foods.
If you do become vegetarian, make sure you eat soy beans and tofu.
Banana and peanut buter bagel
granola with yoghurt
pita bread with apple slices and honey
brown rice with tofu and peanuts
noodles with omelette, soysauce and walnuts, sweetcorn and peas.
Chickpea, onion, tomaot and avocado salad with sour cream.
Lentil pie with cheesy mashed potato crust
leek and broccoli quiche ( cheap to make and lasts a few days)
tomato, pumpkin and red pepper pasta-
Baked ppumpkin with cheese grated on top and pine nuts.
Root vegetable curry with rice. How can I be a teen vegetarian?
For every piece of meat you don't eat, I eat five.
