I am a vegetarian who is tired all the time and a little over-weight should i start eating meat again?

I eat very healthfully and don't think i am over-weight because i eat to many carbs. The idea of eating meat highly grosses me out but I eat about 1,200 calories a day and am sick of being over-weight. Also I hate being tired all the time.I am a vegetarian who is tired all the time and a little over-weight should i start eating meat again?
Plenty of omnivores experince this. :/ if you want to eat healthier, how about raw food? I don't like raw, but it does make me feel very good and energized.
Have you looked into Vemma? It will replenish your system with the vitamins and minerals you might be lacking from your diet. I take it daily because I know I don't eat right, and its given me such a boost of energy! Check it out www.rakellnash.vemma.com

I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years and I can tell you that you can easily be healthy without meat and many vegetarians are far healthier than non-vegetarians. If you do not wish to eat meat, don't. Watch you diet and eat enough fruits and vegetables for starters. Make sure you get enough protein as well. Try beans and rice for this. I would recommend taking a food based multi vitamin too. These are far better than the chemically made versions even though on the label they show higher vitamin content. Your body can only process a certain amount of vitamins anyway and they are better absorbed if they are in a food based form. Also this avoids unnecessary chemicals in your body and also many of those types of pills contain hidden animal byproducts. If you are tired this could be from any number of sources and you may want to have blood work done to check. Meat certainly won't help on that front, if anything it might make the situation worse as it works to thicken your blood and can make you feel very sluggish. Try adding exercise to your routine if you don't do it already, this really helped me increase my energy. Just walking a little each day made all the difference to me. I also found that starting my day with an apple was really beneficial.
I think if you were eating healthy you wouldn't have this problem. :(

When I was still eating dairy, I was tired and overweight but in your case it could just be lack of physical activity or maybe an underlying medical problem like an under active thyroid.

When you say you are not eating a lot of carbs, are you eating complex carbs or refined? That can make a huge difference.

I don't think going back to eating meat is the answer. I would talk to a doctor or nutritionist about this and go over your diet in a week.I am a vegetarian who is tired all the time and a little over-weight should i start eating meat again?
Eat foods higher in iron if you're tired all the time. Also, increase your calories. You want to keep them at or above 1400 to prevent your body from going into starvation mode. In starvation mode, your body hangs on to every calorie you put in it 'cause it thinks there's a famine. Seriously, if you increase your food in take, whether or not you start eating meat, you'll start losing weight if your diet is healthy and if you exercise.
Ti question is virtually impossible to answer without more information. Could you give an example of what your 'healthy' diet is?

Do you eat at least 2 servings of fruit a day? And least three servings of vegetables? Do you eat something green and leafy everyday, like spinach, kale, spring mix, boc choy, etc (not iceberg lettuce)

Do you drink lots of water?

Do you eat white breads, rolls or pastas? If so cut them out and replace with whole grain bread and grains like quinoa, amaranth, barley, etc. Cut back on dairy. Eat whole foods, not processed food, as much as possible. Cut out white rice and replace with brown, wild, or other rices.

Nuts make a great snack. So do veggies in hummus.

Nuts, beans and green veggies are high in iron.

There's nothing in meat that's not in other foods too. Eat meat if you want but it's not a magic fix.

Do you exercize?
You're not getting enough calories, especially if you're still growing. It's very hard to get enough calories on a vegan/vegetarian diet. Some people say they have to eat all the time. You'll have to decide about eating meat. You can get enough calories without it, but you'll need to spend more time planning your meals. Good luck....
I'm going to go with Jen and say you need iron.

You can get iron tablets from pretty much everywhere. I had iron defficiency and one a day really helps you out. If that doesn't work, see your doctor.

I don't want to worry you, but diabetes can make you tired and, because your body isn't really doing what it's supposed to, you can gain a little bit of wait.

Hope this helped. x
Given your caloric intake combined with feeling tired, since you are eating healthy, you may wish to talk to your doctor (and possibly have your thyroid tested (It could be any number of things, but thyroid issues can cause the symptoms you are describing.))...
You need a balance of your diet. Eat meat. Eat vegetables. The key is fitness. You can be as healthy as possible but you need to run, go to the gym, or do something of that nature.
there could be something wrong with your diet, contact your nutritionist.

but also have your doctor check your health.
If you eat dairy and eggs, you will be tired and overweight.
Perhaps you need a little more protein in your diet, or vitamins, maybe?
Yes you should. Meat is very healthy and is an excellent source of many nutrients, including iron, vitamin B12, and high-quality protein with all the essential amino acids. You will feel better once you start eating a balanced diet again.
