Is being a vegetarian bad for you?

I just became a vegetarian about two or three days ago and I'm starting to feel really sick. My stomach always feels hot and sometimes I feel like I'm going to vomit. Other times I shiver uncontrollably. I thought this was because my body wasn't used to not eating meat, but now I'm not so sure. Can anyone tell me why?Is being a vegetarian bad for you?
I have been a vegetarian for 3 1/2 years and yes at first I felt a little sick but nothing like what you are describing. It kind of sounds like you are coming down with the flu or some other sickness but I am not a doctor so I can't really tell. You should probably talk to your doctor about why this is happening because it could be because your body is used to having meat but that seems very unlikely, especially if you've only been a vegetarian for a few days.
It is just your body getting rid of all the unhealthy toxins that meat has contaminated it with, it will pass. No being vegetarian/vegan is not bad for you, i am living proof after nearly 25 years of not eating meat i am perfectly fit and healthy. It may take a while for your body to adjust to eating a healthy diet, just make sure that you eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and drink lots of water to flush those unhealthy animal toxins away and make sure you are eating a well balanced veggie diet, you should soon feel the health benefits of being a vegetarian. Is being a vegetarian bad for you?
its only bad for you if you dont substitute the vitamins and minerals from the meat into your new diet. you can do this with food like tofu, quorn, soya beans or vitamin tablets.

being a vegetarian is also quite healthy as vegetarians dont eat gelatin. gelatin can be found in sweet products such as jelly and haribo.
Hmm, generally vegetarianism is known as being a far healthier life style choice, but this doesn't sound right. Perhaps it's just your body not used to the lack of meat in your system, or you're not getting enough protein. Definitely take a trip to your GP and find out what's going on, and how to cut out meat sensibly. Is being a vegetarian bad for you?
It sounds more like a virus. Keep up the fluids, eat some light foods if you're hungry, and get to the doctor if the symptoms persist or increase. Some people have stomach problems when they first become vegetarian but I don't think they get nauseous or the chills.
Hm, I never had anything like that happen to me when I went vegetarian.

What ARE you eating these days? And have you already eliminated the possibility that this is just a coincidence, that maybe you got some virus right around the same time you went vegetarian?
Generally being a vegetarian has many healthy benefits if you have well-balanced and healthy diet. You may not have a well-balanced diet as being a vegetarian is easy to suffer from vitamin B-12 and vitamin D deficiency.
You need some meat in your stomach. Veggies are yuck
