Okay I recently became a vegetarian and my mom keeps telling me I will gain a lot of weight because I will get hungry very frequently and I do! So are there any vegetarian foods that keep you full for a reasonable amount of time? What are some filling foods for a vegetarian?
My favorite is a veggie sandwhich. I put lots of vegetables in it, ranch dressing, and cheese. It's very delicious....My favorite thing to add is sprouts.
I also don't mind veggie wraps...which are much of the same thing but more fun to eat. lol.
Eggs are filling...soft boiled the best because you can dip bread in it.
Don't count on a lot grains to keep you full though...they actually just make you want even more.
Protein really keeps you full, but if you aren't a big fan of beans and such than I recomend all the soy products they have out there. They have veggie dogs, veggie burgers, and at health food stores they also have soy bacon, sandwhich "meat" and such. RainbowFoods has a Natural Food section which has a lot of vegetarian options. All these Veggie "meat" is actually pretty good if you have stuff with it. Not good just plain but with dressing and ketchup and such it's really good.
Tomato Soup is filling too.
I'm not a vegetarian, but I quit smoking and I avoided weight gain- even lost weight eating oatmeal at breakfast. There's a ton of fiber in it, fiber gives you sense of feeling full, and when you feel full you eat less. A bonus is that it's low in calories if you eat it plain. I do occasionally, but I add something like raisins, soymilk, granola. Drink water throughout the day too, because water cuts your appetite. I came across a website called meatout.org and there's some recipe ideas that seem pretty good and filling. Hope this helps! What are some filling foods for a vegetarian?
My favorite meal is tostados. Take a tostado shell (made with no animal lard). Heat vegetarian refried beans microwave or stove top. Spread a good layer on the shell. Put some 4 cheese mexican cheese on top. Zap in microwave to melt cheese. Put shredded lettuce. Put a layer of made or bought guacomole (I make my own its better) or just put some sliced avocado. Then put some sour cream,l some cut up tomatoe chunks and sprinkle some more of the cheese on top.
I love the weight watches 5 cheese rigatoni. It is so cheesy and I eat it with a slice of whole wheat 45 calorie a slice bread. The fettucine alfredo from them is good as well.
I also like green giant rice medley (white rice, peas, mushrooms in a buttery sauce and is lot if fat but filling. The same company makes cheesy rice (whice rice in cheesy sauce) which is also good. I eat this with the same slice of bread as above.
Pancakes for breakfast with shredded hashbrowns are so filling.
Cheese pizza loaded with onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and cheese. So filling! You can make some garlic cheese bread too.
Five cheese lasagna. So good and filling.
I love to make my own version of the subway veggie sub. I use whole we bread. I put mustard, lettuce, strips of green pepper, a few cucumber disks, lettuce, tomato and for that extra flavor and crunch a few potato chips (i used baked chips but this whole thing is like no calories so you can use real chips if you are not watching your weight) and with some extra chips on the side to eat with the sandwich. You can also get like the larger sub buns which will make you fuller.
Apples and melon type fruits are water filled and fill you up along with the fiber.
.
This is so filling.
There are so many!
Lots of whole grains, beans and veggies. Lots of fiber, foods rich in fiber make you feel fuller longer such as:
brown rice topped with veggies and soy sauce,
salads, artificial meat, soy products, tofu, black bean soup, lentils, whole wheat bread and peanut butter, cheeses, whole grain pasta with a light tomato sauce and parmesan cheese, different types of nuts... the list goes on... try cooking a recipe like your own homemade vegetable soup etc.
don't eat junk like pizza pockets, white breads, cookies that aren't filling and empty out of your stomach fast...leaving you hungry every hour or so.What are some filling foods for a vegetarian?
I just became vegetarian too!
Anyway, I recently began loving to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They are really filling, and good! Plus they have protein. :)
I also like to eat pasta alot. Many things are vegetarian that are filling. You should try some new foods, that's what I'm trying to do!
15 oz. pkg. deluxe brownie mix
1/3 c. very hot water
1/4 c. oil
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
12 Reese's peanut butter cups
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line muffin cups with paper baking cups. In large bowl, combine brownie mix, water, vanilla, oil and egg; stir until just mixed (50 strokes). Fill cups 2/3 full; press peanut butter cup into each cup until even with batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until set. Do not overbake. Yield: 12 cupcakes.
