What's the best way to start becoming a vegetarian?

I've been able to do stints of quitting meat cold turkey but I always succumb to the temptation after a months but I want stay on a vegetarian diet for good this time! What's the best way to start becoming a vegetarian?
Don't go in so suddenly. Here was what I did

What I did was only eat meat every other day, then every two days, all while giving up one animal at a time, from October to November in 2005. My plan was to have turkey one last time for Thanksgiving, so that was gonna be my last source of meat

My plan was beef, then pork, then chicken, then turkey (I didn't count things like lamb, because I didn't eat that regularly enough, so that was just out entirely)

HOWEVER, by late October, while doing this, I just said "you know what, I'm done with meat", and I never looked back. I didn't even have Thanksgiving turkey, and I was more than fine with it

So I'd say ween into it, but when you're ready, you'll know, and just end it all
Apparently you have the start down pat. it's the long term you're having problems with. I think you have to figure out why you can't stay with that diet. In spite of what you're often told or read, it's not easy getting all the nutrients your body needs if you cut meat out of your diet. We're natural omnivores. We're genetically designed to eat meat.

If you're not getting enough protein, iron, fats, your body may rebel and send you back to meat. You need to take time to learn how to eat a well balanced, nutritious vegetarian diet. Start with some of the MORE reliable vegetarian sites like Vegetarian Resources Group (VRG). I say MORE because, IMO, many of them are, let's say, factually "challenged."What's the best way to start becoming a vegetarian?
eat small quantities of vegetables every day. drink lots of water. you can add seasoning to the vegetables. eat meat every once in a looong while, but mostly eat vegetables.
slowly take meat out of your diet. for example, stop eating red meat for maybe 2 months, then take out poultry and fish out of your diet. do it slowly so you get used to your new dietWhat's the best way to start becoming a vegetarian?
i think you should find other people that are vegan or vegetarian. they can really keep you on track. :D
Slowly ease your way in, do what i did.

I took my favorite recipes and made them meat free.

i hope this helps!
