I'm seriously thinking of becoming a vegetarian. Every time I eat meat, I feel sick. Only because I think of the animals. I feel so terrible for them. I can't eat it anymore. My cousins a vegetarian and she had so much dismay from the family. She's still one though and when i told her, she said I should be one. So I just have a few questions about vegetarianism:
What made you become a vegetarian?
What age were you when you became one?
Is any of your family vegetarians?
Thank you.|||- What made you become a vegetarian?
because of the way the animals are treated. It's disgusting, in this day and age there's NO need for so much suffering.
- What age were you when you became one?
I was 15, I became one for a 'new year's resolution'. Sounds silly, but it helped me, and it really was a 'New Year'. I'm 16 now, and still a vegetarian. I don't think I'll ever go back to eating meat. I feel the way you do - I think if I saw meat on my plate I'd physically vomit. Even when my family eat meat I go upstairs to my room where I can't see it or smell it... even at college I can't go in the cafeteria cus there's meat there.. my friends think i'm a bit obsessed about it..
- Is any of your family vegetarians?
My nana is a pescetarian (she eats fish), but my Uncle is a vegan (don't eat anything from animals, includes eggs, cheese, milk etc.) My cousins are vegetarian. None of my immediate family (brothers, parents) are vegetarians though, unfortunately, which made things hard at first. Quorn is a great meat alternative, you might wanna try it. It's helped me when i've had to cook family meals like cottage pie, instead of minced beef I use mince quorn - still tastes the same.|||What made you become a vegetarian?
i used to think it was mean to eat animals, and i still do, but i now also think its discusting and not a sustainable way of living.
What age were you when you became one?
about 10, but i eat fish then, slowly ive been giving up things, it takes a while to become a proper vegetarian, you keep discovering things you can't eat!
Is any of your family vegetarians?
my dads side of the family, but they eat fish
do become a vegetarian, it may be hard at times but you'll know you are doing the right thing. your family may give you dismay but jsut say this is your choice not theirs, and its not like your stopping htem eating meat. But try not to patronize them =]|||Nobody in my family is a Vegetarian--My grandpa (dad's father) calls himself one but still eats white meat.
I became a Vegetarian at 16. Nearly Vegan at almost 22.
Reading about the horrors of factory farming made me want to go Vegetarian. Working at a grocery store that didn't package their meat products well at all made me really want to go Vegetarian. A bet with my grandma sealed the deal: She doubted I could go one week without chicken. Things escalated and the final deal was that I was to go one month without any meat. After that month, I saw no reason to go back.|||After realizing the interconnection of everyone and everything on the planet. We are all intimately connected with one another and I will not play a role in supporting suffering in any other creature. I became a vegetarian last year at age 18. None of my family members are vegetarians.

Peace and love :)|||I didn't like the idea of eating animals
when i went to markets and saw chickens with their heads cut off it just really repulsed me
i was 12 when i became vegetarian
my mum was already so it was easier but i think you should go for it
there's plenty of stuff to eat if you're vegetarian so it should be easy enough|||I became a vegetarian when I was eight (I'm now 19) because I couldn't bear the thought that a life had ended just so I could eat it. None of my family are vegetarians, so I had to learn to cook for myself from an early age - I'm glad I stuck to it, as now I feel this belief is a large part of who I am. Good luck :)|||Well, I live in India. Almost all the people here are Vegetarian. Only a handfull of the population is Non-Veg. I think its totally okay if you want to be a vegetarian. Some may think youre a Green Thumb or something like that. But it just feels bad when you think you're eating an animal. At the first week, you may miss meat. But you've gotta control yourself and keep going on. After that, its all very easy. Im not a vegetarian. But I live among them. All my friends are Veg. And their whole family's Veg. too.|||I became a vegetarian because I thought the animals shouldn't be slaughtered just to make people feel happy when eating them and to provide them with a meal..
I was 13, 9 months agoo I became one :)
My dad is.
Good luck :)|||Well, before you make an ultimate decision, just so you have both sides of the story... this is actually a question I just posted. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?…|||Because you don't like meat.|||First of all, the fact that you're even asking this question makes the answer pretty obvious :)
But for me it pretty much started the same as you. From a young age, i hated the fact that I was eating meat. But it wasn't until I was fourteen, almost fifteen, that I decided to do it. When I first talked to my mum about it she agreed to let me 'try it' (her words) but i knew she wasn't taking me seriously. I heard my brothers saying that I wouldn't last longer than a week and I guess that just made me more determined to do it. Trust me, it's so much harder than you think it is. The first three months in my opinion is the WORST. you get these really bad cravings and you see your family eating meat and yeah it's hard.
But no, nobody in my family is a vegetarian. I don't actually know any vegetarians which made it sooo much harder. it also meant i had no idea what to eat and i just kind of got into it thinking it was gunna be easy.
And then i got a defeciency (which are the worst leaving you feeling tired all of the time and like crap) so make sure you talk to your cousin who can tell you all about what to eat in order to stay healthy.
I guess you could say my family wasn't supportive of me at all. At family bbq's and stuff when everyones having steak and I have my tofu sausages they say but why? why would you do that to yourself. It annoys the crap out of me but yeah. There's A LOT you need to know about becoming a vegetarian. Mostly it will be hard. But trust me it's sooo worth it after you get past those three months and you show people that they were wrong.
Anyway you're lucky you have your cousin so talk to her about it and ask her to give you some tips. Just stay strong and everytime you feel like eating meat, remember WHY you're doing it!
i wish you the very very very best of luck!
xx
