So I've recently been trying a vegetarian diet %26amp; im still trying to get a hang of it... Last night I had a cup or so of fresh steamed broccoli (they were INCREDIBLY green) and a baked potato with probably a teaspoon of margarine. I also had about a third cup of low fat cottage cheese.
Is this meal healthy enough to eat one to three times a week?Would you consider this a healthy dinner for a vegetarian?
Actually that seems to me like the dinner of an anorexic. I used to eat dinners like that when I first went veg. Before long I was bruising easily and incredibly weak, dizzy and moody.
You need more protein. MUCH more protein.
A single potato, brocc and cottage cheese is not enough. Now I am VERY careful to get enough protein. I get 70-90 grams of protein per day. What you are describing probably only has 15 grams of protein.
I'm not trying to be rude BTW. Try adding 1/2 cup of beans and replace the potato with 1 cup of brown rice. Then drink a cup of soy milk with it. You could easily at least double the protein to 30 by doing this.Would you consider this a healthy dinner for a vegetarian?
yea, that seems like a good dinner, IF you had a big lunch or are not terribly hungry.
just as long as your not limiting yourself to this if your body says its not enough.Would you consider this a healthy dinner for a vegetarian?
My whole family is vegetarian. We normally have soup and salad.
Hope this helps!
