I'm a vegetarian, I've been one for about a year now.
I went to the doctor today and he said I have low blood pressure and I'm anemic. (I have an iron deficiency) They had to test if I was diabetic too.
Will eating meat again help with bringing my blood pressure back to normal?
Will I get sick if I ate meat again ASAP seeing as I haven't eaten it for a long time?
Can I carry on being a vegetarian or should I start eating meat again?
Any advice?Does being a vegetarian affect your blood pressure?
You don't have to eat meat to increase your iron levels, leafy greens, legumes and lentils, tofu and other soya based products, eggs, cheese and other grains have iron in them just add more to your diet, for a person with anaemia, it is best to take and iron based supplement or multivitamin to boost those properties, I take Flax seed oil capsules, made with vegan gel, low blood pressure means your heart is pumping slower than usual, take to a nutritionist or dietitian and get them to recommend some better eating habits and solutions, you will get alot of amateur help here, I am a former chef, type 2 diabetic, have osteo arthritis and have been a lacto-ovo, veggie for 5 years and eat very few carbs to proteins in my diet, try eating more whole grains, veggies with high iron contents, see a professional to help you along and do the best your can,Does being a vegetarian affect your blood pressure?
Vegetarianism has nothing to do with blood pressure.
Actually, there's nothing wrong with low blood pressure -- it's generally not an unhealthy state to be in, so that's great! It runs in my family too, and mine hasn't changed a bit since I went vegan.
I agree that a simple iron supplement will do the trick. I became vegan when I was younger and 9 months after starting I was diagnosed with anaemia too. I clearly didn't know what I was doing. Since then I've been taking an iron tablet a day for 10 years, get the iron, folate and B12 levels tested once a year and they've been just fine ever since. I can even donate blood. Then you can stay true to your principles and not worry about rotting your gut, being sick and such. Yay vegetarianism yay!Does being a vegetarian affect your blood pressure?
I am a vegetarian (all my whole life I didnt not touch meat)
There is nothing to do with BP and vegetarianism
but you said you are anemic..yes veggie food has less iron content...try to use iron suppliments
If you dont want to become a nonvegetarian then why do you force ur self? just take iron suppliments and continue with your veggie diet thats good for you..
