I'm thinking of becoming a vegetarian. But will it upset my stomach for a long time?

I've only done it for 2 wks at a time in the past, but think I could easily switch to vegetarian. Any advice?I'm thinking of becoming a vegetarian. But will it upset my stomach for a long time?
In one day, I went from eating meat almost everyday my whole life to being vegetarian. I have had no adverse health effects. Unless decreasing my cholesterol, blood preassure and weight counts. They were all too high anyway.

As long as you eat right, vegetarianism is a healthy refreshing diet. Make sure you get plenty of iron (spinach broccoli, total cereal, etc.) eat enough protein (tofu, beans, cheese.)

You should do fine, but if you do notice a decline in your health, go to a doctor and talk to a nutritionist.
I don't think it will upset your stomach at all. NO problem. Do it right away.I'm thinking of becoming a vegetarian. But will it upset my stomach for a long time?
don't do it...animals were meant for eating, not decoration. :)
your stomach wont be upset - just make sure u get enough of the right nutrients and vitaminsI'm thinking of becoming a vegetarian. But will it upset my stomach for a long time?
Vegetarianism is unhealthy.
My stomach only hurts when I DO eat meat. Vegetables will be fine!
You should definitely go vegetarian! I've been one for about 8 months now and it's been great! And no, it won't upset your stomach!!
I think if you're sensitive you may have some difficulties with the probable increase in fiber from the added vegetables and beans. So you may indeed have some discomfort from gas pressure, but it shoud go away in about 2 weeks after your body adjusts. Try eating some yogurt or taking a pro-biotic suppliment to get your GI tract to work more efficiently. And if you're sensitive to lactose, of course, go easy on the dairy if that's how you're compensating for the protein.
Have you ever noticed when animals have an upset stomach they eat grass and the like. Same idea with vegetable, they certainly should not UPSET your stomach. Good Luck!!!!
Please don't eat us.

no, but it'll be hard to resist delicious meats!
It won't upset your stomach at all, just make sure you get all the vitamins and nutrients you need. It may upset your stomach if you go back to eating meat after a while.
It would be upset, but you can find substitution.
If you aren't used to it then most likely
Hey, if it's what you believe, go for it!

Being vegetarian is HEALTHIER than being a meat-eater, provided you get your protein, which isn't as hard as everyone seems to think it is. Eating healthy food makes you feel BETTER. So if you eat good-quality, vegetarian food, you'll feel better. And if you eat junk food but you're used to it, you won't feel any different. Win/win situation- I recommend vitamins though, but that's not just for vegetarians.
I've been a vegetarian since I was 12 or 13 and I never had any sort of stomach problems. If you decide to go veg, you should remember to watch how much protein you get -- any problems you do have will come from this. Do not rely on pastas and grains to get you through the day... eat lots of colorful vegetables (greens, etc), and you will getting lots of nutrients that your body needs. Finally, I recommend taking a B12 supplement -- something that you can't really get from vegetables and something that your brain needs to function properly. In the end, being a vegetarian is easy, there's lots of vegetables and non-meat proteins out there for you, and you'll discover many different cultures' ways of preparing food. Being smart while you're doing this just requires that you ensure that you are getting balanced meals and all of your vitamins. After that, enjoy!
It didn't upset my stomach--I just gave up meat cold turkey (pun intended). Be sure you get a balanced diet, though. Many people eat more pasta and grain when they go vegetarian, but don't eat many more fruits and vegetables. That's not a healthy diet. You need protein, fruits, and vegetables in addition to carbohydrates. Balance is the key to any diet.
it shouldn't bother your stomach at all. in fact, the human body digests plant matter much more easily than animal flesh. if you're having a hard time giving up certain foods, try getting meat-flavored replacements for those foods. in the frozen food section of your store, look for veggie chicken patties and veggie hamburgers. try boca and morningstar. there's a replacement for just about everything. (but not for steak.)
Educate yourself about nutrition so you make sure you are eating all the necessary types of food excluding meat.

After some time you will see a general improvement in your levels of fitness and general health.

In sports fitness regimes, meat eating is kept to an absolute minimum because it can be debilitating.
Some people tend to get more gas in the beginning because the body is not used to eating more vegetables. It soon goes away.
well, at first you might have stomach discomfort, but as time goes by (a few weeks) it will get better. The reason behind this is that once you delete meat and add more veggies there will still be meat products in your digestive track. Meat is digested a LOT slower than veggies. the veggies and things will want to move more quickly through you system while the meat at the other end is still taking its sweet ol time. if you still plan on eating dairy then adding cheese to every meal (grated, cubed, whatever) will help to keep things not moving too quick. (cheese is another food item that can digest slowly) after a while your stomach will not be uncomfortable at all. Doing a cleanse will also help with that. I've heard the master cleanse is really good, but i have never tried it. Good luck.
It should be very easy and your stomach won't get upset. On the contrary, you should feel twice as good. Good Luck!
I've never had an upset stomach because of being a vegetarian. In fact, the thought of eating bloody, rotting animal flesh makes me want to vomit.
