So does resisting get easier?Does being a vegetarian get easier with time?
Yeah, you just have to train yourself.
I was the same way, and I ended up quitting in the long run.
But I know you can do it.
You could always buy meatless meat.
That probably made no sense.
Hmm, like veggie burgers.
They have alot of veggie items in grocery stores.
I have been vegetarian since I discovered that meat was making me poorly more than half a lifetime ago.
When I first stopped the worst cravings were for bacon, hot dogs at the fair, kippers, other smoked fish and taramasalata.
You might note that everything except the last are all strong smells. The hotdog thing was really the smell of the fried onions - that was easy to cure. Bacon I substituted a smoked cheese like applewood. Fish was a problem in fact at first I continued to eat the taramasalata, convincing myself that it was eggs so didn't count but I had to give up morally in the end because they have to kill the fish to get the eggs.
I should point out that, when I gave it up meat was actually my favourite food and I hated cooked vegetables/ I still hate most cooked vegetables but now the smell of cooking meat turns my tummy. So, to answer your question - yes it does get easier.Does being a vegetarian get easier with time?
Yes, definitely. When I first became a vegetarian, I ate nothing but macaroni and cheese and peanut butter sandwiches because I hated tofu and soy products (like MorningStar, Boca, etc) and I didn't have enough money to buy fresh produce all the time. I also had very intense cravings for meat, especially poultry.
I've been veggie for seven years, and now even the smell of meat makes me sick to my stomach. I also got used to and came to love tofu, soy, hummus, and a whole host of other foods I didn't have a taste for at the beginning. After you've been vegetarian for a while, even accidentally eating meat can make you nauseous. I also found that the texture becomes abhorrent. I was once given chicken at a Chinese restaurant when I had ordered tofu, and I knew at the first bite that it was meat because of how fatty and stingy it was compared to, say, MorningStar Farms "chicken" strips.
Just take your time. Experiment with new foods, and when you get a meat craving eat something with a lot of protein. Some soy products also taste an awful lot like meat. Try MorningStar Farms BBQ "ribs," Yves brand "pepperoni" or MorningStar "chicken" strips or patties. They're pretty good. :)
Oh, definitely. As you:
-find all the restaurants around you that are veggie-friendly,
-hear about more and more problems associated with the consumption of meat, and
-get used to creating meatless meals-
you eventually wonder why people insist on eating our fellow Earthlings in the first place!Does being a vegetarian get easier with time?
O yes, this is my 2nd time vegetarian. the 1st time I was one for 3 months. this time i've been one for a month.... I have no temptations anymore to eat meat. (I ate meat when I went to france to get the culture). watch meat your meat when you feel like eating meat.
i just started and i when i wanted to eat meat with my family i just pictured the animals i was eating.
It makes you lose your appetite...
Its not that hard. When you are tempted get online and watch earthiling or meet you mean that willl reinforce you. Thinking about licking roadkill also helps.
YES! I used to sneak in a peice of chicken or something every once and a while. But now the thought of munching on a dead body just GROSSES ME OUT!
yes, you eventually don't crave it anymore. Try to imagine that meat tasts really gross.
Look at it this way. You fart more than carnivores but yours smell less
Yes.
It certainly does.
