I was just wondering, because lately I haven't been able to eat certain meats, even 1's I've eating since I was a little tot. And I'll admit, even way-back-when I still couldn't eat certain meats, because they tasted awful 'n made my stomach turn...
I'm wondering if over time, someone can become a vegetarian but not on purpose...? Without even realizing it or noticing it? If it's just something that happens to their body, maybe? Is it possible to 'become' a vegetarian, but not on purpose?
I think so because I find myself doing that as well. I used to LOVE McDonalds, Burger King, and KFC and now I can't eat them anymore. The only thing I find myself eating is chicken salads and homecooked meals consisting of baked chicken and vegetables. I've always love my fruits and veggies and i find myself eating the, even more....I also work for Jenny Craig so I eat the food there too...and they have a lot of turkey-based products, baked chicken, and fish. Maybe you're just getting off red meat as well because that's what it seems like I'm doing.
I gradually became vegetarian and one of the reasons was I could not digest meat, had always had a hard time with it and as I got older it would block my colon. I no longer have any trouble with my digestion because of eating vegetables, beans and grains only.Is it possible to 'become' a vegetarian, but not on purpose?
yeah sure, since you could just prefer the taste of vegetables over meats. maybe you're eating too large of portions of meat.
One does not need to consciously deny meat (or other foods) in their diet to become a vegetarian.
Actually, vegetarian is just a label. What we eat is a combunation of personal choice, available foods and individual body chemistry. Many who do not eat meat or certain other foods do not call themselves "Vegetarian".Is it possible to 'become' a vegetarian, but not on purpose?
yes! your body can reject meat. mostly red meat.
That's what happened to me. I realized that I was eating meat out of habit and convention more than because I wanted it. So I just stopped. It was very easy, and I haven't eaten meat in 12 years. (I was also very fit at the time and was simply craving healthy stuff. I was also very busy at the time, and so gravitated toward simple and lighter food. That helped.)
I personally do not like meat at all. so yes !
If you end up not eating any beef, pork, lamb, poultry, fowl, fish, seafood, or ANY living thing that is not a plant fungus or algae, then the answer is yes.

Yes they can. I have a 13 year old daughter who stopped eating meat. She said it made her sick. It hasn't affected her growth pattern at all. As a matter of fact her skin looks brighter and clearer and she is now healthier. I'm thinking about doing the same thing.
Yes, I think so. I know for myself that I have gradually and unconsciously decreased the amount of red meat in my diet. I just don't need or crave that much red meat.
yes!
Its very possible that meat can make you sick and force you to become a vegetarian by accident! Its actually a good thing! :-)
Definitely! It's what happened with my mum. She was supportive of my vegetarianism but had not made any resolve to change, yet stopped bringing meat into the house. Over a period of a few months she stopped eating it entirely, realised how much better she felt and was more receptive to conversations about Animal Rights. She's now vegan! And it's for the animals!
You feel a million times better without meat, and sometimes it's good to make the transition slowly. You might be interested in learning about Animal Rights/cruelty and how it fits in with your diet - you sound to be suited to a vegetarian way of life.
As we get older our body changes and is unable to digest certain things such as beef as it used to. Even milk solids become a problem to some. It's nothing new nor to worry about it's just part of getting old, it sucks. Learn to like Chicken and Pork. I also found that I like vegetable a lot more than I used to! Maybe our bodies are trying to tell us something? I still eat beef but in smaller portions and with lots of vegetables. Beef is one of the hardest meats to pass through our bodies, in fact it doesn't actually digest, it must first rot and break down before passing, EWWWW I know but that's according to Opra's favorite Dr.
ya
Yeah, I'm sure a lot of vegetarians are vegetarians because they just don't like meat. Mabey you could try some of the vegetarian meats they have. I am a vegetarian, and they are good, not exactly like meat, but you might like them better!
uh, not if you are consciously not eating meat as you appear to be. i say go veg though! you will feel a heck of a lot better!
I suppose so.
