I'm very interested in becoming a vegetarian....not only for the inhumane ways that animals are treated, but also to lead a heathier life style. I'm in my 30's and have thought many times about changing my eating habbits, and also making sure the clothing, etc. that I buy are cruelty free. I'm looking for suggestions on how to easily incorporate this change into my life. I know that my husband will not join me in this decision which I think will make it even more difficult. Any good recipes or ideas to help me get started would be great.I would like to become a vegetarian.....?
As far as shopping goes, it's usually easier to find clothes and shoes that don't use leather and fur if you shop at cheaper stores. It's not that they're supporting animal rights, it's that they're using cheaply made products, and fur and leather is more expensive. You can find good non-leather shoes, purses or belts at Wal-mark or Target. Just make sure you check the label.
Most recipe websites have lots of vegetarian recipes if you type "vegetarian" into the search bar. I put a link below to a good site.
As far as your husband goes, you really can't expect him to feel the same way that you do. He should be expected to support your decision though. Ask him if he would be willing to try out a few vegetarian dishes once or twice a week. You never know, he might be surprised that he likes it! Good luck!
If you don't plan to go vegan, you'll be able to transition more easily. You can find products that are cruelty free at most health food stores and whole foods markets. You'll need to read lots of labels ... no matter where you shop, though. If you try a gradual approach you may get your husband to accept some of the changes more easily, plus it will be easier for you to adapt your diet. Try serving a meatless meal once a week, and start to use tofu in dishes like lasagna, mixed in with the ricotta. If you like beans, you can make Tex Mex chili from spicy beans with veggie burger. I did this many years ago with my family, and today one daughter is still primarily a veg, happily married to a carnivore. Just remember that any healthy changes you make will be good for you both, and for the planet. Bon appetit!I would like to become a vegetarian.....?
Hi I think its a good idea to become a vegetarian. I am one but still eat fish from time to time for the iron. I was 15 yrs old when I decided to give up meat and am now 31. I am the only one in the family that doesnt eat meat anymore and find that it isnt that much of a problem with us all having meals etc. Im always buying quorn mince and quorn chunks that have the same texture as chicken. Oh and Linda McCartney sausages are so yummy!
It has been proven that vegetarians live longer than meat eaters. I also take Sanatogen vegetarian tablets, they just provide the minerals that we are lacking.
Try the helpful website below for more info and good luck x
Well, start by finding meals that you can do veggie and non veggie without making two entirely different meals.
Examples: Spaghetti dinner. Just make some meatballs sepearate, on the side, and serve them on his plate without "Contaminating" YOUR sauce. Should be pretty easy.
Pizza: Make one large with a sparce layer of peperoni on HIS side and veggies or plain chese on yours
Make a "burger and fries" meal. fry him up one burger (or two if he's a big eater) and heat YOURSELF up a veggie burger. You can use all the same condiments, and eat all the same side dishes (salad, potato salad, chips, fries/tots,
If he's one of those people that's such a carnivore that he thinks he needs meat on SALADS, then keep a bottle of bacon bits handy. Put them on the table and let him help himself. You don't have to put them on the whole salad! BTW.. I think Baco's are fake bacon, not really meat. They're great tasting! so YOU can have bacon bits too!
That's just the beginning. None of those meals will require any real extra work to have meat and totally vegetarian meal. That will give you a couple ideas that will hopefully lead to many others! Most side dishes are vegetarian, so you just have to worry about the entree!
and like the other's said.. Try to tease him into trying things without meat once in awhile. I'm sure you'll find things he likes just fine. I mean, I ALWAYS preferred chese pizza, even before I was a vegetarian. (Well, pepperoni and sausage were out, cuz mom never believed in eating pork. See Leviticus chapter 11)I would like to become a vegetarian.....?
just know that in the beginning, it is quite difficult and you might find it difficult to make meals. If you persevere, it will get better. Get a vegetarian cookbook.
