Is it true that if a vegetarian eats meat they will get sick?

I've heard that if you are a vegetarian for a long time, then eat meat it will make you sick. Is this true?Is it true that if a vegetarian eats meat they will get sick?
Wow, Mike A is sure full of himself. I don't think he'd call a bodybuilding Marine veteran a "sissy," yet here we are.

Yes, meat does make you sick. Meat is difficult for the body to digest, which is why things like the Atkins Diet cause weight loss: eating all that meat clogs up your system, making you feel fuller because it's taking forever to digest. Some people don't seem to digest it well, which led to the influx of colon cleansers as diet products (making you sh*t out that rotted meat in your colon can help you lose a couple pounds if there's enough of it in there). Do you know why lions sleep 20 out of 24 hours during the day? They're digesting. Even carnivores, who are built to handle meat and only meat, still find it very taxing to digest it.

It's like eating glass: the body doesn't want to digest it, it hurts the stomach. Bad times all around.

The same is true with lactose for vegans...many vegans, anyway. As a fan of bodybuilding as an omnivore and still now as a vegan, I consumed a huge amount of dairy. Dairy never, EVER gave me ANY problems at all. I was eating lunch with my boyfriend and we ordered an appetizer to share. It had cheese on it (not melted), so I just moved it over to his side. No big deal, I'm a vegan but I'm not an a**hole about it. After eating, I suddenly had to excuse myself to the ladies room to puke my guts out. Apparently, stupid a** cheese freakin' RESIDUE made me have to puke.

The same thing happens with fried food: if you cut it out of your diet for a while, then try to eat it again, you'll feel sick to your stomach and possibly even puke.

It makes you wonder, if that's the reaction people who cut it out of their diet have, what made us as a society adopt it in the first place?
Well no - to a point. Not physically sick anyway. It depends if they go from super-healthy vegetarian and start eating fatty, processed meat.

Vegetarian diets are a lot healthier than most meat-included diets and the body gets used to all the nutrient rich food that it gets, so if one starts eating fatty meats such as sausage, mince, chicken with the skin and fat on: they may feel a bit sick, but it's generally only temporary. After a while the body will get used to the meat included, however I advise to sticking to meat with the fat and skin removed, or trim varieties. Is it true that if a vegetarian eats meat they will get sick?
Well i have been vegan for about three years, but i was never a real big meat eater, but i remember back in the day when i was in high school i woould stop eating cheeseburgers for about a month and when i did eat it again i would gte a really bad stomach ache......really bad and i would feel sick for a bit
It's probably just psychological but a couple of years ago (after I'd been vegetarian for about 5 years already) I bought a chicken sandwich by mistake and when the taste hit my tongue it made my eyes water!

I spat it out in a big hurry. Is it true that if a vegetarian eats meat they will get sick?
Sometimes, it juss depends on how long you've been a vegetarian. Or it also depends on the person. If the person is really grossed out by meat then they will make themselves sick.
yes they will because your body after a long period with no meat gets uste to no meat and then when you consume meat again your body wont be uste to it and it might take time to get uste to it .

but they will get sick.
I'm a vegetarian and during those times that I have mistakenly eaten something with pieces of pork or the like in it, I have gotten an upset stomach. My body is not used to it anymore, I guess.
My friend goes out to a remote part of africa and eats no real vegetables. When he returns and eats some greens, he is then very sick for a few days. I think it must be the same if you ate purely meat.
I think it would just be from the thought of it. When I walk by the fresh meat section at the grocery store I seriously get the chills and feel sick to my stomach.
No, being a vegetarian is choice they made. Unless they were allergic they would not get sick because everybody needs meat and vegetarians just think that meat it sickening.
It's very possible. Their body becomes so accustomed to not eating meat. Any change in their diet, such as eating meat, has the possibility of making them sick.
I've never heard of that but i feel sick to my stomach when i smell meat... so it might be true, but not everybody, for sure. depends on the person, i think
I've absolutely seen it happen. Their stomachs rebel at the chemistry and they can actually upchuck.
I'm sure if you wear a vegetarian for like 30 some odd years than yeah. But I think it's more of the mind and guilt like one of the other people said.
I believe so. After been a vegetarian for a long time, meat becomes very sentive.
It might upset their stomach just because they haven't had it in a while and need to get use to it. It won't kill you though!
Yes, you have to slowly re-introduce it to your body.
it tends to give them an upset stomack from the gas and the runs

just like anyone who changes there diet
Hmm.. Redcorn no know... guess it possible if their system no longer used to process meat... Great question.
Yes, this is true, I have seen it happen.

:-)
They may get sick with guilt? i'd doubt it over the meat however.
well they might feel guilty but i really doubt that theyll get sick
Only in their head.
h
yes it is i an 29 years old i have not had any meat befor
little sisys could convince themselves they are sick i'm sure.
