I've been a vegetarian for almost 3 months now. I got to school and I felt lightheaded all the way to 4 period, which is lunch, which is when I ate a veggie sandwich and the lighthead and dizziness went away.
Did it have anything to do with being vegetarian? That was the first time I felt it, too.Does being Vegetarian have anything to do with me being lightheaded?
you might be anemic. do you have any of these symptoms? if you do, take an iron supplement.
anemia Symptoms:
Because a low red blood cell count decreases oxygen delivery to every tissue in the body, anemia may cause a variety of signs and symptoms. It can also make almost any other underlying medical condition worse. If anemia is mild, it may not cause any symptoms. If anemia is slowly ongoing (chronic), the body may adapt and compensate for the change; in this case there may not be any symptoms until the anemia becomes more severe.
Symptoms of anemia may include the following:
Fatigue
decreased energy
weakness
shortness of breath
lightheadedness
palpitations (feeling of the heart racing or beating irregularly)
looking pale
Symptoms of severe anemia may include:
chest pain, angina, or heart attack
dizziness
fainting or passing out
rapid heart rate
Some of the signs that may indicate anemia in an individual may include:
Change in stool color, including black and tarry stools (sticky and foul smelling), maroon-colored, or visibly bloody stools if the anemia is due to blood loss through the gastrointestinal tract.
rapid heart rate
low blood pressure
rapid breathing
pale or cold skin
yellow skin called jaundice if anemia is due to red blood cell breakdown
heart murmur
enlargement of the spleen with certain causes of anemia
it went away when you ate so you should probably eat more but it still could be anemia.
Sounds like you didn't have enough for breakfast. Which can cause lightheadedness in both veg*ns and meat eaters.
When you switched to a vegetarian diet, did you make sure you still get enough calories in your meals? A lot of new vegetarians make the mistake of just eliminating the meat without increasing the non-meat parts of their diet.Does being Vegetarian have anything to do with me being lightheaded?
You need to eat a good breakfast, maybe an high fibre cereal and toast with yeast extract and some fruit. Have snacks throughout the day such as nuts, seeds and dried fruit. Drink water or fruit juice during the day and maybe eat fresh fruit such as bananas that give an energy boost. If you still feel tired then see your doctor.
...When you ate. The light headedness went away. Hmmm.
Maybe you aren't eating enough? What does being a vegetarian have to do with anything? Food is food, nutrition is nutrition. Eat more filling foods in the morning and drink water!Does being Vegetarian have anything to do with me being lightheaded?
No , it had to do with you not eating enough in the morning, or being hungover, or pregnant, or stoned.
The vegetarian thing gets blamed for everything.
Sounds like low blood sugar. You probably aren't eating enough protein and/or are malnourished. Did you talk to a doctor before going vegetarian? People really should.
Well ask the doctor whats wrong...it could be something else...good luck
