I know this isn't everyone but I see a lot of questions from vegetarians and this seems to be what there diet is based around...
What do you think? The Standard American Diet or the Average Vegetarian Diet which is worse?
I don't think that's quite the average vegetarian diet. I know there are a lot of vegetarians with crappy diets, but I know a lot of vegetarians, and I've never known ONE to be that bad, so I'd hardly say thats average.
But either way, the standard american diet is just about as bad as it gets.
Basically, the two diets you're describing are very similar, it's just soy vs. meat. Meat contains a lot more fat, which can lead to more problems.
Also, the average vegetarian diet you describe at least rules out some of the worst american food products.
No quadruple cheeseburgers from BK, for example. They'd be stuck with a Gardenburger. Maybe they'll take the fries instead of the salad, but you can't compare the two main courses, nutritionally. The Standard American Diet or the Average Vegetarian Diet which is worse?
There is no such thing as "Average Vegetarian Diet" (AVD). That term was coined by the original poster (OP). In a general sense, a vegetarian diet INCLUDES vegetables. The OP specifically excluded veggies. Perhaps that needs to be addressed.
