How long do you have to be a vegetarian till your body rejects meat?

^^^^

I've been a vegetarian for about 5 months. Was just wondering.. I know your body naturally rejects meat after a while but was just wondering if anyone knew the exact time?

And is being a vegetarian healthy? How long do you have to be a vegetarian till your body rejects meat?
I haven't (knowingly) eaten meat for 25 years, since I was a young teen. I have eaten some soups that I assume may have been beef based because they do a number on my stomach :\
Sorry, you're misinformed.

Your body will NEVER reject meat.

The enzymes which exist to digest it simply go dormant (they are inhibited by the allosteric inhibition site on the protein) until the necessary substrate (meat) becomes available.

The body uses alot of energy in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) to make those enzymes, and it doesn't break them down, that would be wasteful. So the body stores them until they are needed.

You never lose your ability to eat/digest ANY food.

What you choose to eat is up to you.How long do you have to be a vegetarian till your body rejects meat?
Hm, it's not like I tested myself and ate meat to see what would happen.

Once my friends made a bunch of croquettes and made some for me without any meat. I accidentally started to eat one with ham bits in it and I immediately thought, "Ew, this one tastes rotten or something..." and spat it out. Turned out that was the taste of ham. I had prob. been veg for maybe 5yrs at that point. I found it interesting that I didn't say to myself, "Oh, this one has ham in it" and recognize it as ham, but rather just thought it tasted very odd and equated that with the food being 'off'.
It's a myth that we lose the enzymes necessary to digest meat. You may feel a little queasy if you accidentally eat some, but that's probably due to the grease.

A nutritionally balanced veg*n diet is very healthy.

You don't lose the ability to digest meat no more than me hating cabbage %26amp; never eating it meaning i won't be able to digest it when i do.

Complete myth that pretty much rejects all biology %26amp; science of digestion/nutrition
Uh well it depends my friend went vegetarian for a week and then ate steak and got sick. It depends on what kind of meat. Being vegetarian is proven to be the healthiest diet stick to it and you will feel great!
The body never rejects meat. Meat is like crack, try it once and you're hooked.
It varies from person to person.

5 months does seem long enough for your body to start rejecting it, though.
ive been one for like about a year, and i feel if i did eat meat,i wouldt eat it,
we are carnivores, not herbivores. We were meant to eat meat. i eat herbivores.
